Outreach Committee

General Purpose/Mission

  1. To envision, plan and implement ways that Third Church and its members can be faithful in proclaiming the gospel intentionally, clearly and lovingly.

  2. To encourage Third Church members and friends to seek out and recognize opportunities God provides to witness to the love of Christ and to invite others to Him.

  3. To employ a variety of means to communicate the ministries and missions of Third Church to the surrounding community, and

  4. To enable individuals to find a place where they can best use their gifts in the work and service of the church.

Specific Responsibilities

Pray for Third Church and its efforts to carry out its mission (John 15:5)

Evangelistic Efforts:

  1. Assess evangelistic opportunities in and around Third Church and to pursue those opportunities.

  2. Initiate efforts to train persons to share their faith, in word and deed, specifically as they relate to un-churched people.

  3. Educate and encourage committees to recognize and carry out their role in witnessing to the love of Christ and inviting others into a relationship with Him.

Assimilation Efforts:

  1. Develop, implement and maintain a visitor welcome and follow-up program (i.e., a Host/Hostess Ministry).

  2. Provide ministries to those persons who are new to the Christian faith (i.e., working with the Christian Nurture Committee as appropriate).

  3. Work with the Pastor to conduct Inquirers' Classes, as necessary.

Communication Efforts:

  1. Develop and oversee the church website.

  2. Ensure effective use of  the church newsletter and bulletin boards.

  3. Co-ordinate publicity of church ministries and programs.

  4. Evaluate various methods and mechanisms Third Church can use to publicize our ministries and invite others to participate.
